Our Perspective
Beauty & Fashion
Amazon is the #1 beauty and fashion retailer in America. Are you treating it that way?
Beauty and fashion consumers are some of the most informed, engaged shoppers on the internet. They research, they compare, they remember, and they come back — or they don’t. How brands show up on Amazon in these categories has never mattered more. Here’s how we think about it.

Brands we work with

WHO WE ARE
We've been in beauty long enough to remember what came before Amazon, and on Amazon long enough to know what's coming next.
There’s a reason beauty brands come to us when things get complicated. Our team has collectively spent something like a hundred years in this industry: launching brands at department store counters, building prestige lines from scratch, navigating the shift from wholesale to DTC, and then mastering the Amazon era that changed everything again.
We’ve worked with more than 100 beauty and fashion brands across the full spectrum, from indie founders finding their footing to global conglomerates managing complex multi-brand catalogs. And Amazon is only the beginning. We’re active operators on Walmart and Mercado Libre. We run retail media, paid social, paid search, and TikTok Shop services. Ulta and Target marketplaces just launched, and we’re already running brands on both. When a new marketplace starts pulling beauty consumers, we’re already there.
That kind of fluency comes from being in the market every day: spending real budgets, watching real shoppers, and learning what actually moves the needle. It’s why we call it connected commerce, and why we mean every word of it.
The consumer
The beauty and fashion shopper never really stops shopping, and that changes everything about how you need to show up.
Here’s what makes beauty and fashion accessories different from almost every other category on Amazon: the consumer is always in market. She’s running low on her serum, watching a TikTok about a new SPF, and already thinking about what she needs for the next season, sometimes all in the same scroll. She shops frequently, she shops emotionally, and she shops with real knowledge. She reads ingredient labels. She notices when a formula changes. She remembers if a product let her down, and she talks about it.
The replenishment cycle is powerful. When a bottle runs out, the decision of whether to reorder or try something new happens fast, and it happens on Amazon. If your listing, your reviews, and your brand presence aren’t doing their job in that moment, you lose a customer you already paid to acquire. That’s a revenue problem, and it has a content solution.
Fashion accessories have their own rhythm. Trend awareness matters; buyers are tuned into what’s moving through culture, but they’re also looking for pieces that will still feel right two years from now. Staying relevant means knowing which trends actually translate to purchase behavior and being ready when they do. That’s a different kind of work than chasing every cycle, and it’s work we’ve been doing for a long time.
Brand perception is the conversion metric in beauty and fashion. The way your brand looks, reads, and feels on Amazon directly determines whether someone adds to cart — or keeps scrolling.
A beauty or fashion brand with weak A+ content signals to a skeptical, savvy shopper that the brand doesn’t take itself seriously. And if the brand doesn’t take itself seriously, why should she?
Beauty vs. fashion accessories
Two categories. Two distinct consumer relationships. One team that knows both.
Beauty
Your content is your sales associate.
The shopper reading your ingredient list at 11pm on her phone is the same person who used to stand at a department store counter asking questions. She’s just doing it on Amazon now, and she needs the same level of expertise, trust, and storytelling to say yes. Skincare, cosmetics, fragrance, personal care: each has its own shopper psychology, its own claims considerations, its own competitive dynamics. We know how to navigate all of it.
Fashion Accessories
Evergreen inventory is a real advantage, if you build for it.
Fashion accessories on Amazon is one of the best-kept secrets in the category. Without the size-and-color complexity of apparel, your catalog can be built to last, and with the right evergreen content and keyword strategy, it compounds over time. We stay on top of trends so your core catalog stays current without being rebuilt every season. Licensed fashion work gets particular care: brand integrity, MAP enforcement, and style guidelines are where we live.
What makes us different
Six things we bring that most agencies can't.
Commerce, Seamlessly Connected.
We operate across the marketplaces and channels that actually move the needle for beauty and fashion consumers, and when the next one emerges, we’ll already be running brands on it.
Full-service operational capability
We do the full lift: content, advertising, catalog management, logistics, account health, creative production. Brands bring the vision and own the strategy. We handle everything it takes to execute it at scale.
AI-enabled workflow & creative
Our AI tools power creative production, insights, and workflow at scale, especially for large catalogs where every single listing deserves great content. Faster and sharper, without ever losing the brand voice.
Financial discipline
We care about your margins as much as your rankings. Every recommendation we make has a number behind it, because growth that doesn’t pencil out isn’t really growth.
Brand equity protection
Your brand on Amazon should look as good as it does anywhere else. Unauthorized sellers, pricing integrity, content standards. We protect all of it, because brand equity and conversion rate are the same conversation.
Global capability
The challenges we know cold
We've seen these before. Here's how we think about them.
Content that earns trust at every stage
A+ content, comparison modules, video, and keyword strategy built for the ingredient-conscious, review-reading shopper who is doing real research before she buys.
Video that sells
Sponsored video ads are one of the highest-performing tools in beauty and fashion on Amazon right now. We build and run them strategically, and when our data tells us that TikTok UGC is the creative that converts, we use it. We let the numbers make that call.
Counterfeit and unauthorized seller risk
Gray market sellers erode brand equity and margin simultaneously. We identify, address, and prevent unauthorized distribution. It’s one of the things we do best.
Subscribe & Save strategy
Replenishment categories have a completely different advertising and pricing logic than one-time purchase products. We optimize for lifetime value, not just the first conversion.
Evergreen catalog that stays fresh
Building listings and ad structures that hold their value season over season, while still letting the catalog reflect relevant trend signals when the moment calls for it.
Licensed brand standards on Amazon
Maintaining brand integrity in a marketplace that rewards aggressive tactics requires a partner who understands both the legal and commercial sides of licensed property management.
Gift occasion planning
Accessories skew heavily around key gift moments, but the opportunity is year-round if you plan for it. We map the full occasion calendar into content, advertising, and inventory strategy.
Photography and styling that converts
Accessories live or die by imagery. We know what performs in search results versus on the detail page, and we produce it at scale using AI-powered creative workflows.

Some of what we've built.
Trends we're watching
What's changing right now, and what it means for your brand.
Arabian fragrance has graduated from trend to category, just like K-Beauty did for skincare.
What K-Beauty did for skincare, Arabian fragrance is doing for the scent category. Oud, amber, and musk-forward profiles went from niche curiosity to mainstream shelf presence faster than most brands anticipated. It’s a permanent expansion of what the fragrance category looks like on Amazon. The brands that moved early are now defending positions that didn’t exist three years ago. If you’re in fragrance and haven’t mapped this shift into your content and keyword strategy, it’s time.
Amazon's AI features pull from across the web. Your messaging needs to be consistent everywhere it looks.
Amazon’s AI-powered features don’t just live inside Amazon.com; they reference your brand’s presence across the web when generating answers, comparisons, and recommendations. Inconsistency between your Amazon listings, your website, your social content, and your press coverage can actively work against you in AI-generated results. Connected commerce is how you stay coherent across all of it, and coherence is increasingly what gets you surfaced.
Rufus is changing how shoppers find products. We already know how to pivot.
Amazon’s AI shopping assistant Rufus interprets intent, asks follow-up questions, and synthesizes your listing content, reviews, and Q&A to generate answers for shoppers. The brands winning with Rufus are writing content that genuinely answers the questions a real shopper would ask: ingredient questions, use-case questions, comparison questions. We’ve been adapting our content strategy to this shift in real time. When the rules change, we don’t wait for a playbook. We write it.
Why Market Defense
Beauty and fashion have their own language. Their own cadence. Their own non-negotiables. We know all of them.
Our team has spent careers inside this industry, working with thousands of beauty and fashion brands across ecommerce, Amazon, and DTC. As an agency, we’ve worked with hundreds more. We operate on TikTok Shop, which is the number one traffic source to Amazon in beauty. We know that because we’re in it every day, watching what moves consumers from discovery to purchase and back again.
The name Market Defense wasn’t chosen by accident. When we started, beauty and fashion on Amazon were a nightmare: counterfeits, dupes, and unauthorized resellers were everywhere, and brands were losing control of their own products. We built our practice around fixing that. Today our brands own 90%+ of the buy box. They sleep at night.
The way we work matters as much as what we know. We don’t buy inventory. This is your account, your business, and your customer relationship. We’re full service, which means we handle the execution while you and we build strategy together. And we pay close attention to your P&L, because growth that costs more than it returns isn’t something either of us should be proud of.
Commerce, Seamlessly Connected.
Your brand deserves an Amazon presence as strong as the product inside the package.
